My work in professional development for teachers has been in the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education (STEM).
Professional development may take different forms. Collaborative research is one of them. When it is possible to do, this is the kind of professional development I prefer to use. It can be challenging because not all teachers are interested to take leadership responsibilities in a research project. Part of my research has investigated what sources of difficulties might exist when establishing such partnerships.
